Breaking News for Prospective International Students: Mandatory Attestation Letter Required from January 22, 2024

Attention all future international students! A crucial update in the Canadian study permit application process has just been announced. Starting January 22, 2024, a new requirement is set to significantly impact your journey to studying in Canada.

New Requirement: Attestation Letter

As of January 22, 2024, most students planning to study in Canada will need to include an attestation letter from the province or territory where they intend to study. This new mandate is a critical addition to the existing application requirements for a Canadian study permit.

How to Obtain an Attestation Letter

Each Canadian province and territory is currently developing a process for issuing these attestation letters. These processes are expected to be fully operational by March 31, 2024. As these procedures are established, updates will be provided for each region, ensuring applicants know precisely how to obtain their required documentation.

Important: Incomplete Applications Will Be Returned

In line with this update, any study permit application received on or after January 22, 2024, without an attestation letter will be deemed incomplete and returned, unless you fall under the exempt categories. This is a significant change, and it's crucial for prospective students to note this requirement to avoid any delays or complications in their application process.

Who is Exempt from This Requirement?

Not all students are required to submit an attestation letter. You are exempt from this requirement if you are:
- A minor child applying to study in a primary or secondary school (kindergarten to grade 12).
- A student applying for a Masters, PhD, or other post-graduate program.
- A student applying to extend their study permit.
