🎓 Basic Requirements
Study Permit Authorization
Must have had authorization to study in Canada within 180 days of receiving written confirmation of program completion
Eligible Institution & Program
Graduated from a PGWP-eligible designated learning institution (DLI) with a minimum 8-month program
Full-Time Status
Maintained full-time student status during each academic session (exceptions for final session, authorized leave, and special measures)
No Previous PGWP
Must not have previously held a PGWP under administrative code C43
🆕 New Requirements (Nov 1, 2024+)
Language Requirements
- • University graduates: CLB 7 in English or NCLC 7 in French
- • College graduates: CLB 5 in English or NCLC 5 in French
- • All 4 language skills required (reading, writing, listening, speaking)
Field of Study Requirements
- • University: Bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degree (any field)
- • College: Programs in eligible fields of study only
- • Must consult IRCC's eligible field-of-study list
Exemptions
- • Applications submitted before November 1, 2024
- • Flight school graduates
- • Study permit extensions for same program

- • Electronic submission for processing outside Canada
- • Can remain in Canada as visitor while waiting
- • Cannot work while waiting for decision
- • Must leave and re-enter for final approval
